Sanchez

Today we have an UFC event and at first we couldn’t really find any value anywhere and we are still looking deep into this event.

1 bet that popped up will be Diego Sanchez 4.20 (+320) at 5dimes.

When Ellenberger vs Sanchez was announced we were sure we were going to get a good bet on Ellenberger but the bookmakers was on top of this one and Pinnacle opened it at 1.43 on Ellenberger and that is a fair price according to us.

The betting so far has been one sided and the line on Ellenberger moved down a lot and now you can find Sanchez at 4.20 which is to high for us. We estimate Sanchez chances to 25-30% to win the fight and it will give us plenty of value.

This is a perfect example of a bet were we do not think Sanchez will win the fight most of the times and favors Ellenberger to win this fight but the market pushed down the odds to much on Ellenberger and it is time for us to step in on the underdog and take advantage of the markets overreaction.

MMA guide part 2 + The Knicks

Our second part of MMA betting guide is out

MMA – Part II

At the moment we don’t have any picks for tomorrows UFC event at the moment, if we find something we will post it tomorrow.

We will however post a fight pick for Thiago Alves vs Martin Kampmann soon, a fight taking place on the 3rd March where we found some excellent value.

Knicks and Linsanity

Knicks is one of the of the most public team in media and the hype with Jeremy Lin now is getting all the attention. When we bet on sports we have to read the market and now we might see some more actions from the the betting public on NY Knicks and if we get that we will see bookies adjusting the line and we will be able to get line value on the opponents.

When Knicks star Carmelo Anthony went down with an injury and Knicks had a horrible record no one wanted to bet on them and you were getting a linevalue backing them because no one wanted a piece of them, media and experts were down on them and bookmakers saw a lot of action against them. Then Jeremy Lin happen!

Jeremy Lin out of nowhere gets a lot of playing time and all of a sudden they win 5 straight games and Lin posting fantastic numbers and  media goes nut over this first American born Asian playing in NBA, he is the Tim Tebow of NBA basicially.

Right now the Knicks and the media hype is at an all time high and now might be the time to sell the Knicks and back the opponents because we are giving extra points.

Remember sportsbetting is like stock market buy low and sell high.

We will watch the line on Toronto for tomorrows game since they are a team that doesn’t attract a lot of action so I bookmakers should over adjust in Knicks favor in this game.

New times in the betting industry

I have been around the betting industry for more than 10 years now and this industry is in a big change right now.

10 years ago when most sportsbooks in Europe went online  it was the wild west and not a lot of people on either side of the book knew what they were doing. A sportsbooks success depended a lot on how their traders were. Big salaries were thrown around by the companies to attract the sharpest traders. Today is a different story most traders might not get half their salaries they were given 7-8 years ago, in what other industry did this happen? Normally salaries goes up for any worker in any industry at least as much to match the inflation but not in this industry.

The rise of the odds comparison sites, the influence of  Pinnacle sports and Asian bookies on the European market have stopped the need of skilled traders.  What is important nowadays for European based bookies is low cost labor that need two skills: 1. copy 2.paste

Most European based bookmakers will copy and paste the odds from Asian bookmakers or Pinnacle and try to stay “inline” until kickoff.  If you as a punter try to make a big bet that is out of line from Asia/Pinnacle you will probably be restricted and marked up as “unwanted customer”.  The focus has been set on specials and sidebets and mainly from formulas and algorithms.

This development has lead to a lot of skilled traders either left the business or changed side to become professional sportsbetting investors themselves or working for betting syndicates. The European based bookmakers are softer than ever right now but it’s also very hard to not be restricted by them. The hardest part for a professional trader right now is not to find winning bets it’s how to avoid getting restricted by bookmakers and getting marked up as a winning “player”.

Coming up tomorrow – Money Mangement

Free Pick

We will add a free pick today

Bet Sacramento +7 @ Minnesota

Most bookies offers this one at +6,5 but some offer +7 like Diamond sportsbook or buying  a  half point on Pinnaclesports,  always make sure to shop for the best line.

Sacramento is probably the most underrated team in NBA at the moment. They had a lot of problems early in the season but since they got a new coach some of their more troubled players have rallied around their new coach and they show some good moral lately. They definitely have some raw potential in Evans, Cousins and Thornton the problem have been to sync their play but lately they showed some improvements.

Minnesota is pretty much the opposite, not a lot of people expected a lot of improvement for this team this year but so far they looked very good and more like a play off contender compared to last couple of years punching bag. Minnesota  are missing their absolute best player for this game Kevin Love who is suspended, he gives the team 25p and 14rebounds a game. If you take out such a good player from any team its a huge blow but when taking it out from a mediocre team it’s devastating.

Without Love in the game I think 7p is to many points for Minnesota to lay. I think a fair line for this game would be Sacramento +4,5 or +5 so we are getting about 2p line value here.

The current line set by the bookmakers looks like it is based mainly of the stats these teams gathered so far but for me it seems like they are not taking the improvements of Sacramento into consideration and underestimates the importance of Kevin Love.
